Pakistan’s Struggles with the Bat – All Out for 241
Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first and had a rocky start. Imam-ul-Haq followed quickly, run out by a smart throw from Axar Patel for just 10 runs. Captain Babar Azam looked good for 23 before he was caught by KL Rahul off the bowling of Hardik Pandya.
Pakistan’s man of the moment was Saud Shakeel, who battled valiantly to finish on a rock-solid 62 from 76 balls. He stitched a vital partnership with Mohammad Rizwan (46 off 77) to stabilise innings. But once they did, the middle order crumbled in the face of India’s disciplined bowling attack.
With Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) spinning a web around the Pakistani batsmen, Hardik Pandya (2/31) and Axar Patel (1/49) kept things tight. Harshit Rana as well played his part, claiming a key wicket with Pakistan eventually managing to post 241 on the board in 49.4 overs.

Virat Kohli’s Masterclass Leads India to Victory
Chasing 242, India began with aggression, Rohit Sharma (20 out off 15) hitting a couple of early boundaries before falling to Shaheen Afridi. Shubman Gill (46 off 52) continued to keep the scoreboard ticking but fell to Abrar Ahmed, which left India at 93/2.
In walked Virat Kohli, who had the chase under control from the outset. The Indian maestro played a calculated innings, a fine balance of aggression and caution; smashing an unbeaten 100 from as many as 111 balls. Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67) provided solid support before getting out to Khushdil Shah.
Despite a minor hiccup with Hardik Pandya’s dismissal (8 off 6), Axar Patel (3 off 4)* stood with Kohli as India comfortably chased down the target in 42.3 overs.
Pakistan’s Bowling Effort Falls Short
Pakistan’s bowling attack had a poor day, with Shaheen Afridi (2/74) going for runs despite taking two vital wickets. Abrar Ahmed (1/28 in 10 overs) was the most frugal while Khushdil Shah (1/43) ended the Iyer-Kohli axis. But Pakistan paid dearly for this lack of breakthroughs.
Key Takeaways from the Match
- Virat Kohli’s century on Thursday confirmed why he is still India’s chase master.
- Kuldeep Yadav’s 3-wicket spell tilted the game in India’s favour.
- Pakistan’s lone batting bright spot was Saud Shakeel’s fighting 62.
- Shaheen Afridi’s high economy rate hurt Pakistan’s defense.
