4. Is there a monetary reward for winning the Purple Cap?

Unlike some individual awards, winning the Purple Cap does not come with a separate monetary reward. However, the prestige and recognition associated with being the leading wicket-taker in a high-profile tournament like the IPL are substantial.

Purple Cap in IPL 2025 – 27 May, 2024

The winner of the IPL 2024 Purple Cap race is Harshal Patel! Harshal Patel (Punjab Kings) wins the valuable award, even though his team didn’t qualify for the playoffs. His amazing season-long play, in which he took 24 wickets in just 14 matches, is enough to end the season.

Many people thought that Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians) or Varun Chakaravarthy (Kolkata Knight Riders) would give their teams a late boost, but they ended the season with 20 and 21 wickets, respectively, in 14 and 16 games. Even though Bumrah was great early on and Chakaravarthy took some important wickets in the playoffs, Patel’s steadiness held strong.

After the May 12th match, the IPL 2024 Purple Cap race took a dramatic turn! There are now only two horses left in the race for first place. After taking 20 wickets each, Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians) and Harshal Patel (Punjab Kings) are now tied for first place. Further down the list, Varun Chakaravarthy (Kolkata Knight Riders), who has taken 18 wickets in twelve matches, is still a strong candidate. His mysterious spin is still an advantage, but he needs to take a lot of wickets to catch up to the top.
